A feature Solidarność, Solidarność... (the Solidarity, Solidarity…) is being made in order to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the birth of the union. This is a formidable venture, in which the greatest Polish filmmakers have joined forces, such as Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Zanussi, Jan Jakub Kolski, Ryszard Bugajski, Feliks Falk, Filip Bajon, as well as those of the younger generation, like Piotr Trzaskalski, Małgorzata Szumowska, and Andrzej Jakimowski among others.
This feature, the brainchild of Andrzej Wajda, will be a joint venture of 13 Polish directors to memorialize the events of Aug. 1980. Each of the directors is to shoot a short film about Aug. ’80. The plots and their form are absolutely up to each filmmaker. Their common aim is to show the phenomenon of the Solidarity, which, above all social divisions, could accomplish the impossible by today’s standards: to unite 10 million Poles in a unique way.
The thirteen 10-minute-long short films that will make the 2-hour-long film will feature a full variety of forms: from videoclip through comedy and documentary to a rarefied interview with the Chairman Lech Wałęsa, that echoes the famous films by Andrzej Wajda Man of...

A short feature. The story is told from the perspective of a small girl, a young one, and, finally, a mature woman. In a large measure, the film is based on the voice-over commentary of the female lead, scenes from her apartment, and materials from archives. Its form resembles a collage.
At the birth of the Solidarity, she was 7, at the first free election, 16, and when Poland entered the EU, 31. The film has five parts. A woman is born out of the girl, just like Free Poland is born out of People’s Poland.
