EUROPEAN FILM ACADEMY
NOMINEES FOR THE EUROPEAN FILM AWARDS 2018 ON TOUR

SHORT MATTERS is the European Film Academy’s short film tour which brings the nominated short films to audiences across Europe – and beyond. The programme featuring the European Short Film Nominees 2018 is a manifold panorama of young contemporary European filmmaking. This year’s programme is composed of productions/co-productions from Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands, UK & Ukraine. The members of the European Film Academy – more than 3,500 European film professionals − selected the Italian-French film GLI ANNI (THE YEARS) by Sara Fgaier as the overall winner, which was presented at the 31st European Film Awards Ceremony in Seville in December 2018.

A presumably African village, inhabited by Germans. The film describes a geographical construction that makes use of ‘our’ medial and collective image of Africa and puts it to the test through inaccuracies.
