Špela Čadež has already shaken up the film festival circuit with the films she made during her studies – Mate to Measure (Zasukanec, 2004), which includes her own screenplay, puppet and set design, direction, animation and film editing, and Lovesick (Ljubezen je bolezen, 2007), with a charming heartbroken character with barely patched heart on his sleeve.  Puppet animations with original puppets, distinguished scenery, costumes and fluid animation, accomplished to the last detail all contribute to refined love issues depictions. Her first works may have introduced her unique style, but she earned her reputation as one of the greatest puppet animators  with her stunning adaptation of Maksim Gorki’s short story »Her Lover« – Boles (2013) which was surprisingly followed by another outstanding and visually sophisticated ‒this time, flat figure animation of a bizarre journey of a drunken badger – Nighthawk (Nočna ptica, 2016), whereby she has once again, as she has already done with her previous works – for example, the clay animation Marathon from 2008, which was made in co-operation with Izabela Plucinska, or animated scenes in short documentary Little Prince Luka by Matej Peljhan from 2014,   with the use of different techniques and by revealing realities through imaginary worlds, proved that her creativity is limitless.
